Γιατί να βγει φωτιά από μερικά βουνά;

Αυτά είναι ηφαίστεια. Το ηφαίστειο δεν είναι πραγματικό βουνό. Πρώτα υπάρχει μια τρύπα στον φλοιό, που ονομάζεται λάβα, όπου μια υγρή φλόγα από τα βάθη του εδάφους αναβλύείν βίαια. 

Μετά τη ροή της λάβας, γίνεται κρύο και σκληρύνει γύρω από την τρύπα. Συσσωρεύονται και φτιάχνουν τον κώνο του ηφαιστείου.

Κάτω από τη λεπτή στρώση βράχου, η οποία αποτελείται από την κρούστα του εδάφους, υπάρχει μια περιοχή όπου οι ουσίες, που ονομάζονται μάγμα, είναι περισσότερο ή λιγότερο διαφάνεια, σε θερμοκρασίες πάνω από 1000 βαθμούς Κελσίου. 

Τεράστιες πιέσεις που επηρεάζουν τη μορφή από κάτω προς τα πάνω, παραμορφώσεις στο εξωτερικό κέλυφος. Μερικές φορές ακόμη και, βαθιές και μεγάλες ρωγμές συμβαίνουν. Από αυτές τις ρωγμές, οι λιωμένες ουσίες αρχίζουν να εκρηκματίσει. Έτσι, γεννιέται ένα ηφαίστειο. Αυτή η λάβα, που συνήθως είναι λάμπα, παγώνει όταν ρέει μέσα από τους κρατήρες και τις πλαγιές.
